Baby Crab is a 41-year-old lady who has worked for over 20 years. She has decided to stop full-time work to pursue her dream of driving around Malaysia and Thailand in a van. Without knowing the future that lies ahead of her, she has decided that pursuing her dream is more important than working hard to save money for retirement. Her friends tell her that she is crazy to do this, but she knows that if she waits any longer, she would not have the energy for it, and she will become an old woman, filled with regret, waiting to die alone. Instead, she wants to have stories to tell people around her when she reaches the age that most people retire.
Baby Tilapia is a 39-year-old gentleman who has stopped working full-time since 2017, after discovering a different way of life that requires very little money. He already has many stories to tell, having authored 3 books, given 2 TEDx talks, and inspired 1 food rescue movement. Inspired to live a more adventurous life so that he has more stories to share, he has just this year learned how to drive so that he can go on this wild adventure with Baby Crab. He’s got to do this now, because the climate is breaking down, and who knows if this option will still be around 10 years from now.
Baby Crab and Tilapia are pretty good at living simply. Baby Tilapia already holds the honour of being known for spending just $6 on food for one whole year. Now they want to figure out if this lifestyle is transferrable to a road trip.
They have worked out how much they will need to live this lifestyle for at least a year. But they hope to be able to extend that with support from the community.
They want to go on more adventures and to share with you stories of how they do it, so that you too may one day join them. In particular, they want to inspire people who:
- Wish to travel with minimal expenses;
- Want to see different parts of the world; or
- Want to know how they can thrive without spending money.
So sit back, let them take the wheel, and enjoy the ride!
